Working on Your Body with Hypnosis

I am writing this article particularly for those who are have been trying to create changes in their bodies either for healing or esthetic purposes and have not yet experienced any results or the results were so minimal that the entire thing seems disheartening.

To put things in proper perspective, I wanted to share few of my own experiences. There was a time, about 15 years ago, when I had a major health challenge. It was serious enough and my life depended on it. My friends were freaking out and urging me to go to several doctors. I did, but they were very puzzled with the source of the problem. They couldn't find it and insisted that I urgently go for exploratory surgery which I refused. In my younger age I've seen too many sad consequences of exploratory surgeries - people going to hospitals on two legs and coming out on four, more crippled then they were when they went in - a fate I wanted nothing to do with.

Some years before this incident, I read Louise Hay's book "You can heal your life" and I fully agreed with her assessment of the situation when she battled with cancer and doctors wanted to cut pieces out of her body - if they begin cutting this part and that part soon there will be no more Louise. That's exactly how I saw my problem - if I let doctors cut this part of me and that part of me - soon there may not be much left of my body. After all, when doctors are lost for solutions and don't know how to deal with a body part that is malfunctioning, they have one solution - take it out.

While according to A Course in Miracles - there is no order of difficulties in miracles, that is to say that one is not harder than another, the way my own belief system worked and the way I saw it is - it would be much easier for me to restore the health to the body part which I have, than to re-grow another one - if for no other reason than because I've had some experience with the first and not much with another. And nothing is more convincing than personal experience.

I was playing with mind power and hypnosis since the earliest age, so using mind-power was not new to me. However, this time things got more complicated, if for no other reason other than I was surrounded with friends and experts who all looked rather unsettled about my condition and it had effect on me. When you are faced with a challenge and there's no one around you to encourage your mind experiments, you are much better off just working on it entirely in silence. That way there's no one to drag you down or to further instill doubts in what you're doing. Someone who's never done what you're doing and who has no understanding of what you're doing simply can't help you.

That first time it took me AN ENTIRE YEAR to get rid of my health problem - AN ENTIRE YEAR BEFORE I SAW ANY VISIBLE RESULTS on the outside. I didn't have a choice that appealed to me. I couldn't just quit because no visible results manifested sooner. I did try numerous other alternative therapies, but none of them worked - except for fasting. I did fast for a week, but then I got hungry.

In spite of years of experience working with mind power, there were times I wondered if I'm doing it right, there were times I wondered if all my self-hypnosis work is creating any changes at all, there were few times when I started to lose hope and I cried, praying for help. And those few times that I cried an interesting thing happened - a blanket of indescribable peace covered my entire body and I heard a silent comforting voice whispering "It will be ok. You will be fine." And this voice is THE ONLY thing that encouraged me to persist and to keep doing what I've been doing. it gave me hope and faith. There is a point when absolutely nothing in the outer world can help you to overcome your challenge and the only road you can travel is deep within and if you do, you will discover incredible treasure and help you never even imagined was available.

About 10 years later, I created another serious health problem, quite different than the first, yet just as disheartening and disabling. By the way, both of these health problems were a direct results of situations which I found intensely stressful - stressful enough that they caused something in my body to burst. When you are stressed, sooner or later something is bound to explode or short-circuit in your body. In my case, in both of those instances, the effects of stress were practically instantaneous.

Again there was nothing doctors could do. I didn't even want to go to doctors, but there again my friend were freaking out and insisting I go. While I admit that there are times when doctors can be very helpful, in my own past history of going to doctors it seems I always had some strange health problems where there was nothing they could do to help. By the time I went to doctors I could neither eat (other than through the straw) or speak. They told me the condition may stay with me for life and it may even get worse. I couldn't live my life like that, so I HAD TO do something about it.

I think that my subconscious is creating these exotic health challenges in my life so I have something to practice on using my mind power - dealing with challenges I can't just run away from. I can't say "I'll try hypnosis for a few days to see if anything happens and if it doesn't I'll just forget about it" but I have to stick to working on it UNTIL I get the results.

This time, it took me ABOUT ONE WEEK to completely get rid of the problem and after every single self-hypnosis session I could see a very noticeable improvement. A friend of mine who was observing first my deterioration and then my progress on daily basis said "It was one thing reading about miracles, it was quite another watching it unfold in front of your own eyes."

What was different this time is that I had complete faith in the power of my mind to restore the health to my body. I also new many more techniques and have become very proficient working with with NLP and Time-Lines. I had many years of practice, experience and getting successful results with these techniques in all areas of my life where I cared to apply them. Due to my experiences, my worldview and beliefs - everything in my subconscious mind supported the idea that "Yes, I CAN do it."

It really doesn't matter so much what you read in books or even the miracles you can see others perform - as far as the beliefs in your subconscious mind go. What will make a difference for you, what will create that sense of conviction in your own ability to create changes in your body with your mind are your own personal experiences, because only your own personal experiences become a part of your neurology, a part of the stuff that your subconscious mind is working with when you are creating desired changes with your mind. You own the knowledge and the skills only after you have experienced something.

Some of this knowledge and skills are transferable. If you've learned one foreign language, you know that you can learn any other - if you care to learn it. If you've created one change in your body, you know you can create any other - if you care to create it. It will still require an investment of energy on your part, but you will not have to battle with doubts wondering if you can or cannot do or wondering why is this taking so much time or when will you see the results. And most importantly this confidence in your ability to create desired changes will give you patience. This is important because when you are calm, relaxed and patient you are allowing the changes to take place, whereas when you are anxious, impatient, tense, filled with doubt, you're blocking the changes from happening.

Once you know that you can create any changes you desire, there will be things that you care to work on and to change and there will be things you just don't care about changing. When you choose the goals to work on with self-hypnosis, choose those that are truly meaningful for you and in which you are willing to invest any amount of energy that may be necessary to realize it.
