What Are You Really Afraid Of?

The international terrorists want to make Americans fear them and they often use high-profile terrorist acts to scare us into submission in their attempt to serve their political will over us. It is quite evident by the United States of America's response towards 9/11 that this great nation does not fear international terrorists and will not stand for that in the free world. Should we fear international terrorists? Should we let that change our lifestyle and our way of life in the United States? What are you really afraid of?

Should we be afraid of Global Warming instead? And even if you do not believe in global warming; that is to say that you do not believe that human civilizations and mankind are causing the climate to shift and the heating up our atmosphere; do you fear climate change? Do you fear millions or even of billions of people running of water on the surface of the planet? Do you fear the temperature rising, the glaciers melting and the polar ice caps disappearing?

When most people are asked this question they cannot really fear global warming. One reason is most people believe there is nothing we can do about it and it is too late anyway. While other people believe that it is just a trick to scare us. The fact is that global warming is in the future and most people are more worried about what is happening in the present.

When I asked people from all over the country what they feared most often those two issues; International Terrorists and Global Warming came up quite a bit. However when I really asked them if they thought that they were personally at risk from either of those they generally said; No. Therefore I asked; Do you really fear international terrorists or global warming? After they stopped to think about it they said; No not really.

You see, most of them felt pretty safe in the United States of America thanks to our great leadership and strong government security. So I asked again, what do you really care about and what do you fear. Then overwhelmingly I got the same answer; you see, people care about their family and their friends and they care about that more than themselves.

In fact I asked some older people and one person who had terminal cancer what they feared. They did not even fear death for themselves; they only cared about their friends and family and wanted to make sure they would be all right. So my in formal survey while traveling around the country for the last five years proved very interesting and I thought I would share that with you so you never forget what is most important in your life. The answer seems to be overwhelmingly; Friends and Family. Please consider this in 2008.
