Every once in a while I get emails from people who look upon hypnosis as a possible tool for getting instant results without any exertion on their part whatsoever - this ranges from people who'd like to shapeshift their bodies into a muscular sex-god by using only their minds to people who never invested any effort to create any income, and who'd like now to create billions of dollars instantly to "save the world". On the other end of the spectrum are hypnotists and others who project their own perception and limitations onto others and proclaim that this or that is impossible to accomplish with hypnosis and therefore represents an unrealistic goal or expectation. So what is the truth?
The truth is that what is realistic expectation for one person may be totally unrealistic for another, and is relative to each individual's perception, belief system, congruency of desire to have a particular change, and the development of one's mind power.
Yes, there are people who can accomplish things that are generally considered impossible, using only their mind-power, but they didn't just wake up one morning able to exert it - they put in some time, energy and effort to develop it.
One thing that dramatically cuts down the time needed to create a change using one's mind power is a congruency of desire to have such a change or to create a desired effect.
Many times, people whose life is at stake or who have a tremendous desire to save a life of a loved one, are able to exert tremendous power to accomplish their goal. All of their energies are congruently focused on only one goal - that of saving a life, enabling them to access the power and abilities they previously didn't even realize were available to them.
That's one reason why sometimes in hypnosis sessions, a hypnotist would tie the outcome of the hypnosis session to the person's survival instinct - and it works. Sometimes a spiritual aspirant would ask his teacher "when will I attain such and such goal" and the master would reply "when you desire it as much as you desire to breathe". Hey, if someone attempted to prevent you from breathing, you'd focus all of your energy on finding whatever way you can to get just another breath.
Most people have many goals they'd like to accomplish with hypnosis that are not that important - they would be merely nice to have. Many have contradictory goals pulling them in different directions - part of them would like to have this, and part of them would like to have that.

Sometimes people consciously think that they'd like one outcome, but subconsciously they'd like to preserve the current situation because it still provides them with a certain benefits. A person who dislikes his job may actually subconsciously create headaches or other form of illness as a socially acceptable excuse to stay away from that job. Another person may claim that he desires to be rid of a certain health challenge, yet part of him thrives on all the attention he's getting while being bed-ridden. This, in hypnosis called "secondary gain", takes away from congruence and has to be dealt with in order for the challenge to be permanently resolved.
Sometimes people will actually create undesirable condition to "prove" their beliefs - and the proof may revolve around the idea that some person is a rotten apple, or that the world sucks, or that nothing can be done, or "there you see, I tried it, and nothing works".
I've even received emails from people insisting that they desire to have a certain change, yet they would list every single proof they could find why it's positively impossible for them to have such a change. They've never invested any time in looking for "proofs" as to why and how they could have a change. Again, they may think that they want the change, but the desire for a change is not congruent.
We identify to a great degree with our belief systems and we may be even willing to die for some of them - they are that important to us - so if a person's belief system gets dismantled just like that, to that individual it may threaten everything his life stood for - so fending off any beliefs that threaten one's sense of self may seem to be a much safer option that changing them for the sake of getting the outcome that wasn't all that important to begin with.
There are some people who were willing to change their belief systems in order to get the outcomes they were after, but this didn't come as easily as they hoped for - they realized that with increased sense of power, they also inherited an increased responsibility.
A dramatic change in life occurs when you realize that you can't blame others any more for your experiences and you lose the privilege of making excuses - there's no one out there any more to peg any failures upon - you get to embrace all of your successes and all of your failures. Though, failures become easier to digest if you look upon them as lessons and move on toward greater and greater successes.
A scale of difficulty or challenge regarding what a person will accomplish with hypnosis, and the time it takes to create a desired change, is also relative. It will be generally easier for a person to get rid of a life-threatening illness, than of some minor ailment, simply because life-threatening illness is associated with survival and is therefore higher on the scale of importance and congruency of desire to have the change.
A person who has to come up with a huge amount of money as a ransom to rescue his kidnapped daughter may find the task much more attainable, than someone who just desires to create few bucks for some entertainment he may just as well do without.
It doesn't matter what is the outcome you desire to accomplish with hypnosis. This is true across the board. The more important your goal is for you, no matter how challenging or impossible it may appear - the easier will it be to accomplish it. And consequently, those goals that may be comparatively easy to accomplish, but you don't really care about them, may prove to be almost impossible for you to accomplish.
One's actions speak louder than one's words. If a goal is truly important to you, you will do absolutely anything you can to make it happen. You will be unstoppable. Hypnosis is in no way divorced from your physical actions. On the contrary, it complements them. In daily life, you'll use hypnosis in conjunction with whatever else you may be doing to bring the outcome you desire into as speedy manifestation as possible.
If there is truly absolutely nothing you can do physically, yes, you can use only your mind-power to get what you desire. It will either result in getting you the outcome you're after outright, or it will open the way for you so that you will be able to use other skills. However, if there are things you can do physically, incorporate them, at least until you have developed sufficient skill using hypnosis, to get whatever you desire by using your mind-power only.
Hypnosis is a skill. You become more proficient by using it every day in every area of your life. Every success will condition your subconscious mind for more success. And experimenting with your mind-power shouldn't be a chore - it should be fun and you should approach your experiments with childlike attitude "hmm, if I do this, I wonder what will happen" and remain open to wonderful surprises. If you begin with attitude - "oh, nothing worked for me before and I'm sure this will not work either", you'll just be wasting your time.

If you desire to lose weight - yes, hypnosis can help you in many ways - from impressing the desired image of yourself upon your subconscious and allowing this pattern to manifest through your body,to overcoming any inner barriers and to motivating you to change your life-style. It may help you to regulate your thyroid gland (and hormones that regulate weight-loss), to change your food preference, to impress upon you motivation for physical activity as it only makes sense to add some form of physical exercise and proper nutrition to your weight-loss program. If you're not willing to make any effort, you're actually saying to your subconscious mind that the look and condition of your body is really not all that important to you.
If you desire to enjoy greater prosperity - hypnosis can help you to change your consciousness - from poverty to prosperity, it can help you to come up with creative ideas you can convert into money, it can even help you to win in games of chance, or to land the job you desire, to learn new skills, but you also have to be willing to take some action with the skills you already possess.
Ah, there are people who can manifest money right out of universal substance (what only appears to be "thin air") and if you understand the alchemical principles involved in this kind of transmutation, you may embark upon this joyful path - but if your motivation is to impress others with your supernatural skills or to spend your life goofing on the beach and doing nothing - you don't need to bother even beginning to look into this, because frankly this ability is developed from a spiritual state of consciousness and people who are able to perform these feats have dedicated their lives and all of their energy to serving and helping others. Some of them even still have ordinary jobs - not because they have to or because they're bored, but because they give them opportunity to serve in a way suitable to their purpose.
There is always some exchange of energy. Using hypnosis to achieve a certain goal may seem less strenuous than investing yourself physically, but it still requires investment - investment of your energy. When you use your mind, you burn energy. When you invest your emotions in your hypnosis project, your burn even more energy, or rather - you are exchanging your energy for something that may seem to come to you - "out of thin air". You are transforming the energy. That's the essence of alchemy. You could say that all that hypnosis is about is learning how to play with energy, with life-force, manipulating and transforming it with your mind. You can do this because "energy follows thought".
Creating a major change requires a lot of energy. The more focused your mental and emotional energy on your outcome, while working with hypnosis, the faster results you get. And the more you learn how to generate the energy from the superconscious levels and the more you learn to focus it on your outcome like a laser-beam, the more dramatic changes can you create instantly.
In times of emergency, some people do this spontaneously and unconsciously, without any training in hypnosis. However if you want to create consistent results using your mind-power, then there's no other way, but to practice using your mind-power daily in every area of your life.
