How To Get Your Man Out Of A Fashion Rut

Women, do you have a husband or boyfriend that just won’t get out of the style rut that he is in? Most men have trouble dressing or grooming themselves, because of the innate fear of being perceived as feminine. Therefore, many tend to dress, talk, and groom themselves in ways that will prove their masculinity, not only to themselves, but also to the outside world – or so they think.

What your husbands don’t realize is that looking rough and gruff all the time isn’t that attractive. Women take care of themselves and keep up with trends, so they typically want a man who does the same. Don’t get me wrong, most women don’t like a man to look or act feminine, but there are ways of being image conscious that do not portray feminine qualities.

The best way to approach the "makeover" subject with your husband is slowly and discreetly. The power of suggestion goes a long way with most men. For instance, if you simply suggest to your husband that he would look good in a certain type shirt, it may spur him into trying it. Other times it might take a hands-on approach on the woman’s part. You may have to buy him the shirt and lay it out with coordinating pants and shoes for him to actually try it on.

There are other mistakes that men make other than their wardrobe choices. Below are some common mistakes and ways you can correct them.

• Hair, Hair Everywhere! – Men tend to overlook that extra hair that begins to pop up as they age. Hair begins to grow out of such places as ears, nose and feet.. With a little help from the women in their lives, however, most men will usually be more than happy to spruce up a bit. For example, for the hair that grows out of their ears and nose, buy an ear, nose, and beard trimmer. (They sell them in most drugstores.) Remember that the power of suggestion works wonders! Discreetly place the trimmer in a place where your husband will be able to find it while he is in private - such as in his bathroom drawer.

• Those boots aren’t made for walking anymore! – Is your man like this? Does he wear the same old, dirty, worn-out boots every day, with every thing? Men tend to have a hard time changing old habits and this one is no exception. When you suggest subtly that your husband buy a new pair of shoes or boots, you’ll find the same old excuse always comes out of his mouth – "But these are already broken in!" Here is your comeback – "Well you can continue to wear those boots to work and to play around in, but when we go out to dinner or to a function a brand new pair of boots would make you look even more handsome."

• Take that cap and shove it! – Is your man addicted to his baseball cap? Does he wear it every single place he goes? My husband was this way and I broke him of the habit very easily. Every time he had his cap off I would complement him and tell him how good he looks. Before long he was going without his cap and now he barely wears it at all! Men are like women in this aspect – they always want to look their best.

I bet that the man in your life will be guilty of at least one of these fashion mistakes. It is up to you to enable him to break free from the fashion mistakes and to portray the masculine image that he was trying to portray in the first place. Good Luck!
