Whiten Your Teeth and Recapture Your Smile

Can you imagine a huge reservoir filled with some sort of goopy stuff?  Well, this was supposed to whiten one's teeth and was known as a dental reservoir.  This teeth whitening system had to be kept on all night, without spreading to the gums.  Now, was that easy, considering that saliva poured into the mouth all night long and the teeth had gums attached to them?  It would have been tolerable if the results had been beneficial!  But the gums ended up being extra sensitive and weak.  The teeth of course, looked whiter; but so did the gums!

The second teeth whitening system that came into the market seemed even more comical!  It involved painting a gel on each and every tooth.  The gel could not be painted across--it had to be in an up and down direction only; up for the lower teeth and down for the upper teeth.  Since the gel came with a brush and cap, it presented a "White-out Wand" look!  After the gel was applied, the individual had to sit still with the mouth open in a grin.  The lips had to be kept away from the gel, and so did saliva!

Deciding that the above two procedures were too time consuming and tedious, manufacturers came up with the idea of strips to be used for whitening the teeth.  The strips were stiff and hoped to produce better results.  Sadly, this was not to be so.  The strips could not stay with the teeth for long as they were not bendable!  After their removal, the person found himself/herself with very colorful teeth--white (touched areas) alternating with yellow and grey and stained teeth (untouched areas).

Appreciated by many people, the Ionic White Teeth Whitening System is the latest on the market.  After the whitening gel is painted on all the teeth, the person is asked to smile at a blue light for the space of five minutes.  In the meantime, an action of swishing takes place.  This is done thrice with the aid of the thick and gummy gel.  One wonders how successful this swishing really is, considering that it is done with a gel; a wash would definitely have been more advisable where swishing was concerned.

Oh, these systems are not the only things in existence!  There are numerous toothpastes which promise to whiten your teeth whiter than white!  As compared to the Smoker's toothpaste, the Rembrandt Toothpaste is much better, though it is expensive (eight dollars per tube).  There is also a Rembrandt Teeth Whitening System, which is quite wonderful!  This method is actually known as the tray method.  The trays are pliable and have tabs on them.  The gel is smeared on these trays and the trays are pushed in and out of the mouth five times.  The whole process involves two hours.  But the advantage is that the gel is thick and stays put on the trays, without spreading onto the gums or dripping on them.  The individual can leave as soon as the treatment is over--not necessary to really stay for the whole two hours.  The teeth are rinsed or aired out, as soon as the trays are removed every time.

If you can afford it, the dentist offers the teeth whitening system, which he/she does in a matter of high-tech secondsand which is where we all got the home-remedy ideas to begin with.  But insurance doesn't typically cover such a cosmetic luxury, and the teeth whitening systems you can buy OTC are very affordableespecially when you only have to use them every three to six months.
