Rock 'n Roll '39-'59. This tribute to the birth of rock 'n roll is "(...)devoted to the genesis, evolution, and history of rock n´roll in the United States between 1939 and 1959." From Little Richard and Chuck Berry to Elvis Presley or Jerry Lee Lewis, this jubilant exhibit will be of interest to anyone interested in the diverse musical and cultural roots of rock. Kara Walker: My Complement, My Enemy, My Oppressor, My Love. A major retrospective of Californian artist Kara Walker's compelling work, which explores the haunting and painful contours of African-American history in an unflinching and unexpected fashion. The singular use of light projectors and paper silhouettes makes Walker's work, widely considered to be some of the 21st century's most important, particularly unforgettable.Through September 9th. Roy Lichtenstein: A Pop Art Master,Through September 23, 2007.. Best known for bringing comic strip-inspired images into the realm of "high art" in his often-irreverant paintings, Roy Lichtenstein is one of American pop art's undisputed masters.
