Car security is something that every
motorist needs to be aware of if they want peace of
mind. Manufacturers have made significant improvements
in the area of car security, with electronic central
door locking, transponder ignition keys, which means
you cannot start the car without the key present and
radios that are completely built into the dash have
lead to a drop in car theft figures. Even so, you can
always do with beefing up your security system, just to
be on the safe side as the thief will always be one
step ahead.
Even a modest car can be the target of thieves
so a really good security system is an investment,
especially as you may get a discount on your
insurance. These systems can come with a variety of
different options which you will have to think
about.
There are systems which now have app's that can
remotely start your car for you. Great for women
coming home late on the train as their car can be
already started by the time they reach it. Another
good idea is an alarm that changes its code every
time it is used, that way your entry code cannot be
cloned by a thief who will use it to disarm your
alarm and steal your car or contents. Some will
come with motion sensors, the gentle motion will
only elicit a low audible alarm but a sudden
violent one, like somebody smashing a window and
the sirens and light erupt.
Another good feature, especially for women, is
an anti hijack device, this will protect you from
being attacked at traffic lights.
The tracker is the ultimate in protection as it
gives off a signal or sometimes two, digital and
radio and alerts you if you car starts to move. It
also alerts a monitoring station who will not only
contact you but also alert the police. Often the
first a robber will know that your car is protected
is when the police pull them over. These are very
often used on the top of the range super sports
cars as some insurers insist they are fitted.
A good security system will always be worth
fitting to whatever car you have. Older models are
frequently stolen to sell for spare parts so do not
be complacent. Can you really put a price on peace
of mind?
