Buying A New
Car Tips
When it comes to buying a new car, there are a
number of things you may wish to take into
consideration. First of all will usually be the
price you want to pay. This will determine your
monthly repayments, unless you are lucky enough to
have enough spare money to buy outright, which has
to be your first priority.
Once you have worked out what you reasonably
afford to pay a month, remembering that you need to
take into account insurance, spares and servicing,
which all cost money, you can then start to look
into what is in the market.
There are a number of web sites that offer
comparisons and you can also find magazines that
will show you cars according to price and style.
Providing that you do have any particular needs,
such as a large family, then you will have the pick
of just about every type of car on the market.
As your new car will need servicing, look for a
car dealership that is close to your home or
perhaps, your work as this can be quite helpful. If
you do have to go further afield, check to see if
they offer a courtesy car or perhaps a pick up and
return service.
Once you have got a list of your likely cars,
it is then time to have a closer look.
Go to the dealership and have a look in their
showroom where you can sit in it and get the feel
of it, remember that the model in the showroom will
usually have the highest specification and may have
more features than the one you can afford. Don't be
afraid to move the seats and mirrors as these are
all important to the total driving experience. How
easy is it to open the boot or get into the back
seats? Can you reach all the controls easily? You
have to be very comfortable with these things as
even just one awkward thing can really mess up your
satisfaction and lead to a bad relationship with
your wheels. Take them out for a test drive, some
garages even give you 24 hours, this will give you
a better idea of how you will get on with your new
car.
When you have decided on the make model and
specification, don't let the salesman talk you into
buying there and then. Go away and see what is the
best price is available, that way you can be
prepared to haggle with the salesman to get the
absolute best price possible. Don't forget to try
to get a free upgrade to the next model or get some
add on extras for free. You will also have to see
which is the best way to pay for it. Will a loan
from your bank or building society be cheaper, or
maybe the manufacturers own finance scheme be more
advantageous.
All your hard work will be worth it when you
finally get to sit for the first time in your
beautiful new car, breathe in the new car smell and
drive away. Heaven.
